It was quite a spectacle. There were tons of people there. We had to park in a school a few blocks away. Luckily they had shuttle vans running all night. You walk into the grounds of the cathedral and all you see are tons of Greeks (I'm assuming they were anyway) everywhere. There was a large canopy in the center of the grounds. This had the stage where different performers would sing. It also had a large dance floor which looked packed all night long. There were different food booths to choose from. We decided on going to the "food court" booth. We waited in line for about an hour (yeah, that many people were there). The food court was basically a place where you could pick up a bunch of different dishes all in one place. So, we went for the pork shish-kebab, stuffed tomato, pastitsio, and a greek pizza (i'm not sure if this dish had a greek name). The food was great. It was our first time trying pastitsio. They call it a greek lasagna. It has small pasta shells rather than the flat pasta italians use. It also had ground beef and lots of cheese. I enjoyed it. Jan wasn't as impressed. But, we weren't complaining too much since they were raising money for their church.

We perused through the rest of the festival. There were greek pastries and other interesting things. The only problem was that the lines were so long for everything, we decided against it. We did however, stumble upon a greek yogurt booth. They handed out free yogurt to everyone. There's nothing like some free dessert.

We'll probably try the festival again next year. But next time, we'll try to go earlier in the day. Before leaving LA, we saw a street taco vendor near the school parking area. Erwin and I decided to have a few tacos. Jan was worried we would get sick. These tacos were just like the street tacos we used to get in Tijuana.

I had a couple al pastor tacos. The guy had the real thing too. The al pastor was on a spit with a pineapple on top. Erwin went with the lengua (yes, cow tongue). He loved it. He even contemplated getting more. There's nothing better than some street tacos for only a buck each.

So, we went from Greek Fest to having our own little Mexican Fest on Washington Blvd.
