Mint Condition at Club Nokia

This weekend has been filled with shows. Tonight we were going back to about 1991... 8th grade baby!!! Verna hooked us up AGAIN at Club Nokia. We're always grateful.

She even hooked us up with VIP access again.

Damn, was my arm really that ashy? I must have looked like Ashy Larry. Geesh.

Tran & Arnold came along for the ride.

We just relaxed in the VIP lounge for a couple drinks before the show.
One highlight of the evening was that just behind us in one of the private tables was none other than Stevie Wonder. We were literally 10 ft away from a living legend. Too bad he rolled with a pretty big entourage. We were hoping to get a picture. Oh well.

The opening act was Lalah Hathaway. We've never heard of her before. But, apparently she's been around about as long as Mint Condition. Arnold thinks he made of heard some of her stuff back in the day on BET's Quiet Storm. Wasn't that the show with the "Unseen VJ"?

Mint Condition rocked it. It's awesome to see some good R&B again. It's even better when they're a complete band as well. Not just some vocalist (no offense Neyo & Chris Brown). They are on tour promoting an album they put out independently. They're trying to stick it to the man. To be honest their new material is really good. They kept it true to their old school new jack sound.

They still rocked the classics though. It was awesome to hear What Kind of Man Would I Be, and of course Pretty Brown Eyes. They closed with the latter. Don't get me wrong, the performance was great. But, they cut some things out of Pretty Brown Eyes. I was really hoping they'd do the end of the song. The parts where they sing "Here come my Diamonds, here comes romance, here comes my lovin'..." Oh well, its all good.

This show had me feenin for more 90's R&B. Where's Mr. Dalvin & Devonte at? Let's get Jodeci back together!!!

Here's a couple clips from the gig.

Till next time kids... Peace out!!!
