Lakers vs Houston, Round 2/ Game 5 (Playoffs 2009)

So Pops comes through again (Thanks Pops)!!! Just got back from Game 5 of the Western Conference Semi-Finals. He gave us the VIP treatment once again.

This included Free Parking

Free Booze

and Free Food

Mom, Jan, & I got there early (as usual). Pops showed up later, after he got off work.

I like to watch the early shootaround and claim the front row of the suite.


This was probably one of the loudest times I've experienced in the Staples Center. It's typically full of booshie people (keep in mind we were posing as booshie people... but could never truly afford such tickets). This had to be the first time I've seen a wave going in this building (including the lower bowl). It was great. The fans are finally starting to let it all hang out.



After the tip off, things got a little hairy. The first few minutes looked a lot like Game 4. But, the Lakers quickly recovered and never looked back.

Some funny things happened at the game as well. My mom & Jan accidentally went into the wrong suite after going to the restroom. They didn't even realize that it was the wrong suite till after picking up some food. Pure Comedy!!!

Just before the start of the second half, they showed a side by side picture of Chris Rock & Aaron Brooks. Jan has been calling Brooks "Chris Rock" all series long.

The Lakers really kept it up for the rest of the game.

Even the second unit played well.

The "We Want Tacos" chant turned into "We Want Mbenga" and we got our request

Every player on the Laker Active Roster scored tonight.

We got'em, this game was done-dah-dah.

Here's a little bit of star watching action. Dr. Dre was sitting on the corner of the court.

The guy sitting in the suite next door reminded me of Seth Rogan. Maybe it was the beer telling me that. I'm not sure anymore.

We ended up whooping them by 40 pts.

Let's close these chumps out on Thursday.
