Pops' client told him we'd be going to game 6 of the 2010 NBA Finals. As soon as the three game road trip in beantown wrapped up, I was anxiously waiting for the call about the tickets. Game 6 rolls around, and he finds out that if there happens to be a game 7 (they were obviously assuming there wouldn't be one), then we'd get tickets to that game. Low and behold, the series is tied at three games a piece. Luckily, his client stayed true to their word. Here we were... in a suite at Staples Center for Game 7 of the NBA Finals. What makes this game particularly special is that it was the Lakers vs the hated (I mean really hated) Celtics.
I've posted pictures from around the suite in the past.
There was an added bonus this time. A bottle of bubbly was found in each suite. The only problem was that all the yahoos who were just there to be seen decided to open the bottles in the middle of the game. They didn't realize that it was for after the game.
My dad & I arrived two hours early... but, it was well worth the wait.
It wasn't a pretty game. It was very low scoring, and at the end of each quarter we were losing. Even the Black Eyed Peas (two suites over from us) tried to rally the fans.
It was a hard fought game. Who would have thought that Artest would be the hero in a Game 7. He held true to his word. Two years ago, after we lost to beantown, he went into the locker room (shower area to be exact) and told Kobe this would never happen again. Of course, he was assuming he would be playing with us in 2009. In any case, here we were... same situation... Lakers vs Celtics in the Finals... pretty much the same rosters too. And he really won this game for us. 16 Time Champions Baby... 4 in the last 10 years!!!
Let's see if we can get Phil Jackson one last 3-Peat before he retires next season....
Till next time kids... Peace out!!!
