Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao

It was an interesting weekend. Well, I should start of with what happened last week. TJ & I went to Manny's gym last Friday to try to meet the champ (Thanks for the info Derrick). He eventually no-showed because he was feeling sore from all the sparring throughout the week.
But, we did end up meeting Freddie Roach. He's a pretty soft spoken guy who gladly met us, took a pic, and even signed a glove.
We also met Manny's long time friend & filipino trainer, Buboy Fernandez. So, it wasn't a total loss.
So we went back on Saturday (still last week) to once again try and meet Manny. We were first in line, and got to meet him for a literally a few seconds. The problem we had was that we had a choice. Either get an autograph or take a picture with him... not both. So we opted for the autograph. He signed the other glove we had.
This weekend, Jan & I decided to go down there to see if we could take a picture with him. Again we were one of the first in line. This week was a little different.
Michael Moorer (former heavyweight champ & one of Manny's trainers) had everyone (over 100 people) come into the gym. Jan & I were inside the ring toward the back corner.
We found ourselves in a video taping for Manny's entrance video for the May 2nd fight. They played his song,
Lahing Pinoy (Manny is the actual singer on the recording), about 3-4 times. So, if you watch the fight, we're guessing there will be a video with a scene showing Manny in a ring w/ a bunch of fans... we'll be in the back... maybe you'll see our hands.
After the taping, it became a mob rushing Manny for autographs. The line we stood outside for
a few hours no longer mattered (so we thought). So, we waited for a few minutes (still in the ring) as the madness ensued.
At this point, the wife was getting pretty irritated. She's not very patient... which is why she prefers not to go autograph hunting very often. But, she is a Manny fan... so she went this time. She let off a little steam on the speed bag.
Luckily, we befriended one of the security guys the week before. Big Rob walked us to the front of the crowd. We ended up getting another photo signed and got our picture with the champ (even though they said we could only have one or the other). Our photographer was none other than Michael Moorer. Who woulda thought we'd get our picture taken by a former heavyweight champ.
Mission Accomplished.
